Based on recent developments in maritime communications, such as satellites and digital technology, GMDSS is designed to ensure maximum availability of safety-related communication for all passenger ships as well as for cargo vessels of 300 GT and upwards engaged in international voyages.*
The goal of GMDSS is to virtually guarantee that complying vessels will be able to communicate with an onshore station at any time, from any location, in case of distress or to exchange safety-related information.
*Ships below 300 gross tonnage as well as those that are not engaged in international voyages are subject to the requirements of the administrations of their flag states.
The Furuno RC-1800T radio package contains all the necessary radio equipment for ships operating in the GMDSS sea areas A2-3. The package provides an easy-to-operate configuration, with minimal installation time for retrofitting an existing ship or new builds. Each unit is prewired in the rack to help reduce installation time.
All equipment in the package is type approved to the latest IMO, ITU, IEC and ETS standards. The MF/HF Radiotelephone is available in transmitter powers of 150 and 250 watts. DSC messages are displayed on the 120 x 64 dots LCD screen of the radiotelephone.
The VHF radiotelephone FM-8800S/D, which contains a digital selective calling (DSC) and DSC watch keeping facility, can be installed in the front of the navigation bridge. It works on all simplex and semi-duplex VHF channels. The FM-8800S/D can be simply connected with a Voyage Data Recorder.
The SAILOR range of MF/HF radios supports crews in safe and efficient operations as well as meeting GMDSS international safety regulations. Designed to withstand the gruelling maritime environment while coping with the demand for reliable communication and safety equipment at sea, SAILOR MF/HF systems can be used standalone or as part of a complete GMDSS solution alongside SAILOR VHF and mini-C for all sea areas.
Whether you choose a 150W, 250W and 500W system, SAILOR MF/HF radios feature a clear screen, large tactile buttons and dials for simple, stress-free operation in the most testing conditions. They are configured for easy operation in daylight or at night, and some models feature the SAILOR Replay function, which records the latest incoming messages for playback to ensure you catch, understand and can respond to essential instructions when you need to tackle them.
Whether you are sailing on your local coast or cruising in the Polar Regions, SAILOR offers you the right GMDSS consoles required for your ship. With a wide range of flexible console systems we are able to deliver the optimal Global Maritime Distress Safety System for any sea area in the world.
Requirements vary from vessel to vessel. Therefore the SAILOR GMDSS solutions are available in a configuration to match the actual communications and safety needs, regardless of the sea area you are operating in.
As a standard the SAILOR 6000 Consoles are delivered with light, dimming control, connection boards and SAILOR Moxa Switches for ThraneLINK.
The consoles are fitted with removable front plates, which greatly facilitate service and maintenance procedures, and the modular structure of the whole system means that it easily may be extended and altered.
The high quality and flexible SAILOR 6000 GMDSS Consoles are also available in versions which include the Thrane VoIP Handset for SAILOR FleetBroadband, making the console a complete communication system.
