The Inmarsat Fleet Family is widely used by the maritime market. The difference within the Fleet Family is based on the size of the equipment and the speed of the connection.
Fleet 33 is mainly used by smaller vessels. It offers digital voice, fax and data. The dial-up data connection can be used for small files at 9.6 kbps. The Mobile Data Packet Service (MPDS) is ideal for internet browsing and email, since you pay for data sending and receiving instead of the connection time.

Fleet 55 is mainly used by medium and large leisure, deep sea, and fishing vessels. It’s a powerful solution combining global coverage, reliable performance and an ‘always on’ connection for data.
